Private Pay vs Insurance |

Private Pay vs Insurance |

I would like to note that at this time I do not take insurance and am considered a “private pay” or “out-of-network” provider (please read the FAQs page for more information and to learn why I do not take insurance at this time).

I also have a limited number of spots for sliding scale clients. What this means is that if your finances are limited and prevents you from accessing quality mental health services, we can talk further and my rate can be reduced to as little as $50 per session.

Psychiatric Diagnostic Evaluation (Intake)

Online or in-person, this is the first step to establishing care with your clinician. The intake process is an information gathering interview to learn more about a person, their experiences, strengths, and resources as well as to assess biological, psychological, and social factors to determine what mental health diagnosis is present, if there is more than one diagnosis, and to discuss what type(s) of treatment would be recommended. This service is also available to those who do not want a comprehensive ADHD evaluation but would benefit from being assessed and diagnosed for it.

This evaluation will assess 5 different domains of executive functioning that may be affected (e.g. self-management to time, self-organization/problem solving, self-restraint/inhibition, self-motivation, and self-activation/concentration) and assess impairment in functioning in up to 15 life domains (e.g. home life with family, completing chores/managing a household, work, social interactions with strangers, relationships with friends, community activities, education, marital/co-living/dating relationships, money management, driving, etc.).

“Sadly, too often, the stigma around mental health prevents people who need help from seeking it. But that simply doesn’t make any sense. Whether an illness affects your heart, your arm, or your brain, it’s still an illness, and there shouldn’t be any distinction. We should make it clear that getting help isn’t a sign of weakness.”
